Recently, the Zhejiang Charity Federation announced its 2024 list of commended advanced members and special committees. Chen Xuehua, Chairman of Huayou Cobalt, was awarded the title of "2024 Outstanding Individual" by the Zhejiang Charity Federation. This honor not only recognizes his personal philanthropic contributions and leadership but also vividly embodies Huayou's corporate ethos of "Rooted in China, Befriends Worldwide."
As ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices gain global traction, Chen Xuehua has positioned Huayou at the forefront of the industry. In 2024, the company joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), becoming the world's first new energy lithium battery material enterprise to pass BSI compliance certification. It also represented China at international platforms such as the OECD Mineral Supply Chain Forum and the LME Asia Annual Conference. From building a children's park in ács City, Indonesia, to leading the drafting of the "Guidelines for ESG Information Disclosure by Non-Ferrous Metal Enterprises," he has transformed Chinese responsibility into global standards. In environmental stewardship, "zero carbon" is embedded in the company's DNA: a three-tier environmental management framework covers the entire industry chain, with 88.24% of subsidiaries ISO14001-certified. In Indonesia, Huayou has partnered with international entities to plant extensive mangrove forests and independently cultivated tens of millions of green plants, establishing North Maluku Province's largest ecological nursery—enabling industry and ecology to coexist harmoniously.
Chairman Chen established the "Huayou Holding Charity and Common Prosperity Foundation" to support the development of Quzhou City's four-province border common prosperity demonstration zone. The foundation engages in philanthropic activities across education, poverty alleviation, and rural revitalization. In 2024, cumulative charitable investments reached RMB 69.2516 million, reflecting Huayou's ongoing commitment to societal love and responsibility, embodying its belief that "an enterprise's ultimate purpose is to convey love and responsibility to society." Over the past five years, Chen has earned titles including China's National Ten Thousand Talents Plan Leading Entrepreneur in Technology Innovation, China's Listed Company ESG Pioneer, Top Ten Influential Zhejiang Business Leaders, and Zhejiang Province Outstanding Entrepreneur. The company has also been ranked among China's Top 500 Enterprises, the Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises, and six other authoritative lists, and was awarded "High-Quality Development Leading Enterprise" by the 7th World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Convention—a testament to the symbiosis of commercial success and social responsibility.
This accolade serves as a testament to Huayou's core value of "responsibility first, good deeds lead far" and marks a new starting point. Moving forward, Huayou will continue to advance ESG and philanthropic innovation, contributing Chinese solutions to global sustainable development and common prosperity.
